Deck overview

This deck is an Esper control and pillowfort strategy commanded by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. The game plan revolves around building an impenetrable defensive perimeter using attack taxes such as Ghostly Prison and Propaganda, alongside punishing deterrents like No Mercy and Aurification. Y'shtola transforms every noncreature spell with mana value 3 or greater into a 2-damage burn trigger against all opponents and a 2-life gain buffer, while also serving as a steady card draw engine whenever life-loss thresholds are met. The deck controls the stack with an extensive counterspell suite and shuts down opposing interaction using Teferi, Time Raveler and Cursed Totem. It leverages high card velocity from auras like Curiosity on Y'shtola to dig into its premier win condition: the infinite mill-and-drain combo of Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank, or alternatively lethal infect burn via Phyresis.
