Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov hatebear and group slug strategy commanded by Liesa, Shroud of Dusk. The primary game plan establishes early disruption through low-mana tax creatures like Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Vryn Wingmare, Archivist of Oghma, and Charismatic Conqueror to throttle opponents' tempo, mana efficiency, and combo sequencing. On Turn 5, Liesa, Shroud of Dusk enters the battlefield, establishing a pervasive 2-life tax on every spell cast across the table while providing an evasive 5/5 flying lifelink body. Because Liesa pays life instead of commander mana tax, she bypasses commander tax penalties entirely and maintains relentless board presence. The deck closes games through compounded life-loss attrition using Painful Quandary, Ankh of Mishra, Kambal, Consul of Allocation, and Wound Reflection, backed by aerial combat damage enhanced with Duelist's Heritage and Skyhunter Strike Force. A robust protection suite defends the board, ensuring inevitable attrition grinds down all three opponents.
