Commander of Spoils: The Balrog by mgm67

Commander: The Balrog, Durin's Bane

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Rakdos deck centers on rapid Treasure generation, sacrifice synergies, and high-impact Dragons. The Balrog, Durin's Bane acts as an undercosted, hasty threat that removes opposing permanents on death and leverages the deck's constant sacrifice output to bypass commander tax. While The Balrog applies heavy combat pressure, the deck naturally finishes games by amassing massive Treasure reserves to fuel alternate win conditions like Revel in Riches and Hellkite Tyrant, or by weaponizing sacrifice triggers with Mirkwood Bats and Mayhem Devil alongside massive mana bursts from cards like Ancient Copper Dragon and There and Back Again.
