Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is built around The Lord of Pain, implementing a relentless group slug strategy that turns every game action into life loss. The commander punishes each player's first spell each turn with direct damage while completely shutting off opponent life gain. The deck accelerates into play with 2-mana artifacts, establishing early punishers like Razorkin Needlehead and Fate Unraveler before landing its commander on Turn 4. From Turn 5 onward, damage multipliers such as Spiked Corridor // Torture Pit and The Rollercrusher Ride compound the burn, while heavy hitters like Kaervek the Merciless and Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls rapidly drain opponent life totals. Lifelink enablers like Basilisk Collar and Whip of Erebos keep the pilot healthy during symmetrical attrition. Lacking infinite combos, the deck relies on inevitable, high-velocity noncombat damage to close the game around Turn 7.
