Deck overview

This Golgari deck leverages Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest to transform sacrifice synergies into an aggressive, wide-board beatdown strategy. The deck produces a continuous stream of tokens using cards like Ophiomancer, Awakening Zone, and Tendershoot Dryad. It then sacrifices those tokens through outlets like Viscera Seer, Spawning Pit, and Priest of Forgotten Gods to trigger Mazirek, placing +1/+1 counters across every creature on your battlefield. In addition to combat damage, life-drain payoffs like Blood Artist, Mirkwood Bats, and Vengeful Bloodwitch punish opponents whenever permanents leave the board. A built-in two-card infinite combo with Basking Broodscale allows Mazirek to generate arbitrarily large creatures and infinite colorless mana on demand. Supported by strong card draw engines like Smothering Abomination and Moldervine Reclamation, the deck recovers well from attrition. However, it remains vulnerable to sweepers due to minimal defensive protection spells, requiring careful timing when deploying key pieces.
