Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Rakdos group slug strategy led by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The game plan revolves around deploying cheap, persistent damage sources like Roiling Vortex, Razorkin Needlehead, and Zo-Zu the Punisher that trigger life loss during each opponent's turn. This fuels Valgavoth's triggered ability, steadily turning the commander into an immense flying threat while generating up to three additional cards every turn cycle. The deck leverages this steady card advantage to deploy damage amplifiers such as Solphim, Mayhem Dominus and Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might, as well as devastating group punishment tools like Sheoldred, the Apocalypse and Painful Quandary. Opponents are forced into a severe dilemma where every fundamental action—playing lands, casting spells, or drawing cards—rapidly depletes their life totals while feeding your board state. Redirection spells and efficient mass removal keep opposing strategies in check until combat damage and passive burn finish the table.
