Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-Black group slug and combo strategy led by Mai, Scornful Striker. The primary objective is to bleed opponent life totals through continuous taxing effects while assembling a deterministic two-card infinite drain loop. Early turns focus on establishing Mai, Scornful Striker and low-cost punisher permanents like Bloodchief Ascension and Creeping Bloodsucker to punish opponents for playing lands, casting noncreature spells, and drawing cards. In the mid-game, the deck deploys heavy attrition anchors such as Polluted Bonds, Painful Quandary, and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse to constrain opposing game actions. The definitive win condition combines a lifegain-on-damage piece like Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror with a damage-on-gain piece such as Sanguine Bond, Marauding Blight-Priest, or Starscape Cleric. Once both halves are active, any single instance of damage or lifegain triggers an infinite chain reaction that drains the entire table simultaneously. High land counts guarantee consistent development, though thin acceleration and limited stack protection remain key vulnerabilities.
