Deck overview

This deck leverages Sauron, the Dark Lord as a commander and massive card-advantage engine at the helm of a Grixis Reanimator strategy. By combining efficient entomb and discard outlets with low-cost reanimation spells, the deck cheats high-impact creatures like Archon of Cruelty and the Ancient Dragon cycle into play ahead of curve. Fast mana rocks and rituals accelerate early setup, while Sauron passively amasses an Orc Army whenever opponents cast spells. When that Army deals combat damage, the Ring tempts you, triggering Sauron's ability to discard your hand and draw four fresh cards. This continuous hand cycling fuels resilient reanimation lines, strong interaction, and protective counterspells. Games conclude through overwhelming aerial combat, recurring dragon triggers, Living Death mass swings, or a devastating Chandra's Ignition.
