Zaffai and the Tempest by Secky83

Format: Commander

Commander: Zaffai and the Tempests

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

Zaffai and the Tempests is an Izzet value deck built around free-casting high-cost instant and sorcery spells and converting their magecraft triggers into a token army. Zaffai's role is to provide one free cast per turn, while Prismari Pianist, Storm-Kiln Artist, and Archmage Emeritus turn each cast into tokens, treasure, or cards. Rootha and Brudiclad then upgrade those small triggers into large flying waves. Secondary paths include direct damage from Thunderdrum Soloist and Slash, plus a slow isolation mill package with Kitsune's Technique. There is no hidden commander; the deck is squarely built around Zaffai and the token engines that multiply his value.
