Deck overview

This Athreos, God of Passage deck is an Orzhov Aristocrats midrange build designed to grind out opponents through incremental life drain, recurring death triggers, and asymmetric creature attrition. The deck establishes early board presence with low-cost sacrifice outlets and drain payoffs before deploying Athreos on turn 3. Once assembled on turn 4, every sacrificed creature forces opponents into a painful dilemma: either allow the creature to return to your hand or pay 3 life. By turn 6, the deck escalates into a must-answer state using powerful force multipliers like Grave Pact, Drivnod, Carnage Dominus, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel to decimate opposing boards while draining life totals. Supported by mass recursion spells such as Living Death and Immortal Servitude, the deck maintains high resilience against conventional board wipes and steadily closes out games around turn 8.
