Deck overview

This Gruul deck focuses on an aggressive Phyrexian counter strategy led by Migloz, Maze Crusher. The deck curves out early with oil-counter creatures, mana dorks, and proliferate enablers, quickly establishing board presence. Migloz, Maze Crusher enters on turn 3 or 4 with five oil counters, serving as a versatile beater that can grant itself menace and vigilance, pump its stats, or destroy opposing artifacts and enchantments. Midgame engines like Urabrask's Forge and Bloated Contaminator build continuous combat pressure, while pump spells, extra combats from Overpowering Attack, and damage multipliers like Fiery Emancipation help close out games. Because the deck relies on traditional combat to deal 120 total damage without infinite combos, it requires multiple attack steps across the table. While targeted protection spells shield individual key threats, the deck remains vulnerable to board wipes and lacks nonland tutors, depending on high thematic redundancy to maintain momentum.
