Deck overview

This deck is a high-power Mardu aggro-stax build focused on Kaalia of the Vast. Its core strategy revolves around ramping into a Turn 3 or 4 Kaalia, granting her haste, and attacking to cheat game-ending Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield. Key offensive threats like Master of Cruelties can eliminate an opponent in a single combat step, while bombs such as Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Archfiend of Despair, and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight quickly overwhelm the table. To secure its dominant board states, the deck uses asymmetric resource denial, combining indestructible creatures with mass land destruction like Armageddon and Ravages of War. A comprehensive protection package featuring Lightning Greaves, Grand Abolisher, and Teferi's Protection shields Kaalia from spot removal. While the deck possesses explosive combat pressure and formidable stax locks, its reliance on Kaalia as an attack-step enabler leaves it vulnerable to targeted removal if protection is not established early.
