Deck overview

This competitive Izzet storm deck leverages Ral, Monsoon Mage to reduce spell costs and flip into a loyalty engine. The primary strategy races to assemble Underworld Breach alongside Brain Freeze and mana sources like Lion's Eye Diamond or Lotus Petal. This loop mills the entire library and eliminates opponents with lethal mill or Grapeshot damage on Turn 3. Dense 0-1 CMC fast mana and rituals propel the deck multiple turns ahead of curve, while wheels and impulse draw maintain high velocity. The list protects its proactive combo turn using premier free counterspells like Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat, and Pact of Negation, alongside Hexing Squelcher to bypass opposing countermagic. Backup storm engines like Past in Flames and Mind's Desire ensure resilience if the primary line is contested.
