Deck overview

This deck is an Esper control and big-mana strategy built around Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign. Its core game plan revolves around manipulating the top of the library with cards like Sensei's Divining Top, Scroll Rack, Brainstorm, and Mystical Tutor to ensure Yennett's combat trigger always reveals a devastating odd-cost spell. Once Yennett attacks on turn 5, it cheats formidable threats such as Void Winnower, Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant, Toxrill, the Corrosive, and Expropriate directly onto the battlefield without paying mana. These payoffs quickly establish asymmetric stax locks, cripple opposing creature boards, and overwhelm opponents with high-power combat damage. A robust suite of protection spells and equipment shields Yennett from interaction, while efficient spot removal keeps fast opposing strategies in check. Without its commander, the deck transitions to a conventional control game, hardcasting its high-end threats using mana rocks and land consistency.
