Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Lifegain Drain midrange strategy commanded by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. The game plan establishes early lifegain enablers like Soul Warden, Aunt May, and Authority of the Consuls before accelerating mana with efficient two-mana rocks and Smothering Tithe. By the midgame, the deck leverages its commander, Well of Lost Dreams, and Black Market Connections to transform incidental lifegain into massive card draw. It converts this card advantage into lethal table-wide life loss through redundant drain amplifiers such as Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity, Sanguine Bond, and Marauding Blight-Priest. High-impact threats including Aetherflux Reservoir, Bolas's Citadel, Archangel of Thune, and Felidar Sovereign provide decisive win conditions. While the deck lacks stack-based countermagic and dedicated tutor packages, it compensates with extreme functional redundancy, potent single-target and mass removal, and an overwhelming late-game resource buffer that drains all three opponents simultaneously.
