Approaching Quasar by OctalPlains

Format: Commander

Commander: Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exemplar

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exemplar leads an Orzhov value deck that repeatedly blinks or sacrifices its own creatures to grow the commander, drain opponents, and generate card advantage. The primary plan is to make Syr Vondam a 4/4 or larger, then use its death/exile trigger as a reusable Vindicate while also threatening commander damage. Secondary paths include an undying/persist sacrifice loop with Phyrexian Altar and Gravecrawler, plus large beaters and planeswalker value. The deck is built around the front face: Syr Vondam is the payoff and the reason the blink/sacrifice shell exists. The back face of Eirdu/Isilu is a support piece that grants persist, not a hidden commander.
