Deck overview

This mono-black deck is an exhibition build built around a strict 1-CMC nonland restriction, piloted by Ashnod, Flesh Mechanist. The primary strategy focuses on deploying an aggressive curve of 1-mana recursive creatures such as Gravecrawler, Cult Conscript, and Forsaken Miner, which Ashnod attacks with and sacrifices to produce tapped Powerstone tokens. These Powerstones fuel expensive activated abilities on cheap permanents, primarily Ashnod's ability to exile dead creatures and create 3/3 Zombie artifact tokens. The deck features hyper-efficient 1-mana creature removal spells like Bone Splinters and Eaten Alive that turn sacrificial fodder into board control. Win conditions involve grinding down opposing life totals through Zombie tokens, recursive creature attacks, and scaling equipment like Tarrian's Soulcleaver. Because it operates entirely at 1 CMC without high-end finishers or fast combo lines, the deck excels at low-mana operational consistency while accepting a longer combat-based clock and vulnerabilities to mass sweepers.
