Deck overview

This deck is a high-powered Mono-Black Combo-Control strategy helmed by Erebos, God of the Dead. Erebos serves as a durable, indestructible card-draw engine and an asymmetric stax piece that permanently denies opponents life gain. The deck accelerates through low-cost artifacts and explosive mana multipliers like Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, fueling consistent card replenishment. Its primary route to victory is the classic infinite drain loop pairing Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror with Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity, or Sanguine Bond, which instantly drains the entire table. Secondary paths include Bolas's Citadel storm combos, Bloodchief Ascension with Mindcrank, and massive mana sinks like Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate. A comprehensive suite of instant-speed removal, sweepers, and oppressive hand-disruption pieces (Oppression, Words of Waste) keeps opponents throttled while the deck easily transitions from control into a sudden, same-turn lethal combo.
