Format: Commander

Commander: The Astonishing Ant-Man

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

The deck helmed by The Astonishing Ant-Man is a Simic +1/+1 counter and token generation strategy. The commander's ability to create Insect tokens by removing +1/+1 counters, combined with doubling effects like Doubling Season and Hardened Scales, allows exponential token production. The deck aims to build up counters on the commander through its own draw-trigger and spells, then explode into a wide board of tokens and finish with overrun effects like Overrun and Finale of Devastation. Secondary payoffs include Tyvar, the Pummeler and Full Steam Ahead to push through lethal damage. The deck also runs a solid interaction suite with several counterspells and removal, but lacks efficient tutoring, making its primary game plan somewhat inconsistent.
