Format: Commander

Commander: Talion, the Kindly Lord

Bracket: 5

Deck overview

This is a Dimir control-combo deck helmed by Talion, the Kindly Lord, who accrues steady card advantage by taxing opponents' spell casts (choosing 2 or 3 to match the low average mana value of the format). The primary game plan is to assemble a two-card library win: Thassa's Oracle plus Demonic Consultation, with Laboratory Maniac and Jace, Wielder of Mysteries as redundant outlets fed by Peer into the Abyss or Necrodominance. A secondary infinite line pairs Acererak the Archlich with Rooftop Storm for an endless dungeon venture. The deck is built around an exceptionally dense tutor suite (13+ effects) and a deep draw package (Ad Nauseam, Dark Confidant, Black Market Connections, Notion Thief) to find the kill quickly and consistently. A modest control shell of counterspells, removal, and hoser permanents (Narset, Parter of Veils, Ashiok, Dream Render) keeps opponents from disrupting the combo turn.
