Handicap Deck Full Throttle by TheWehuntz

Format: Commander

Commander: Gilanra, Caller of Wirewood and Alena, Kessig Trapper

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a high-curve Gruul stompy deck helmed by the partner pair Gilanra, Caller of Wirewood and Alena, Kessig Trapper. The plan is straightforward: develop both commanders, drop enormous creatures, and convert their ETB power into explosive red mana via Alena while Gilanra refills the hand whenever a six-plus spell is cast. Extra-combat payoffs (Bloodthirster, Scourge of the Throne) and table-wide damage multipliers (Hydra Omnivore, Jumbo Cactuar) turn a single successful attack step into multiplayer eliminations. There are no infinite combos; the deck wins through raw combat damage, cascade value from Apex Devastator, and opportunistic theft casts off the two Etali variants. Protection is sparse but present on a few key bodies (Spearbreaker Behemoth, Soul of New Phyrexia, Dawnglade Regent), and the 41-land mana base plus commander dorks is what keeps the six-plus curve castable.
