Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan lifegain combo and aristocrats midrange strategy commanded by Betor, Ancestor's Voice. The deck aims to leverage life gain and life loss to generate value, recur creatures, and grow board presence, while threatening a definitive table kill via infinite life-drain combos. The core win condition pairs cards that convert opponent life loss into life gain (Exquisite Blood, Bloodthirsty Conqueror) with cards that convert life gain into opponent life loss (Sanguine Bond, Starscape Cleric, Epicure of Blood, Defiant Bloodlord). Supported by 12 low-cost mana accelerators and versatile tutors like Demonic Tutor, Buried Alive, and Worldly Tutor, the deck reliably assembles a winning state by Turn 5. The commander provides strong end-step creature recursion and board buffs, but the deck functions independently of Betor. Defensive interaction and board wipes help stabilize against aggressive opponents, while cards like Heroic Intervention protect key combo turns.
