Deck overview

Xenagos, God of Revels is Gruul's purest expression: set up a board, then double a creature's power and give it haste every combat. This is a midrange beatdown deck built around that single combat trigger, with a dense package of legendary attackers and attack-trigger engines. Halana and Alena, Partners stack counters; Grand Warlord Radha and Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient convert attacks into mana; Samut, Vizier of Naktamun turns hasty hits into cards; and Anzrag, the Quake-Mole plus Overpowering Attack - often copied by Fury Storm - turn one big attack into repeated combats. There are no infinite combos; the primary kills are overwhelming combat chains, a Chandra's Ignition on an enormous creature, or the poison back-face of Etali, Primal Conqueror // Etali, Primal Sickness. Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes and Borborygmos Enraged provide reach. The commander matters, but the 99 has enough interchangeable haste/power-doubling effects to keep attacking even if Xenagos is answered.
