Deck overview

This Simic deck is led by Hakbal of the Surging Soul and focuses on Merfolk tribal synergy, +1/+1 counter scaling, and explore-driven card advantage. The strategy curves low-cost Merfolk into Hakbal on turn 4, instantly triggering a wave of explore triggers that filter the library, place counters, and put lands into hand. By turn 5, the deck turns this card velocity into decisive combat pressure using tribal lords, evasion from Herald of Secret Streams, or islandwalk enabled by Harbinger of the Seas. The list supports its creature engine with efficient counterspells and protective tools like Ripples of Potential and Heroic Intervention. It also packs an infinite extra-turns combo in Wanderwine Prophets and Deeproot Pilgrimage as a secondary win condition.
