Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs Wilson, Refined Grizzly with Cultist of the Absolute to build an aggressive, evasive Voltron threat directly from the command zone. Wilson enters as a low-cost creature with vigilance, reach, trample, uncounterability, and Ward {2}. Cultist augments Wilson into a 5/5 flyer with deathtouch and an additional life-tax Ward, requiring a sacrificed creature each upkeep. A dense suite of token generators like Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, Ophiomancer, and Bloodsoaked Champion easily satisfies this upkeep cost while fueling Aristocrats engines like Blood Artist, Mirkwood Bats, and Grave Pact. Fast mana and efficient 1-mana dorks enable Turn 3 assembly and consistent Turn 5 lethal pressure against the lead opponent. While the deck boasts resilient combat stats, robust removal, and strong command zone accessibility, its lack of nonland tutors and combo finishes means table elimination proceeds through sequential combat damage and attrition.
