Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black Voltron-Reanimator hybrid piloted by Volrath the Fallen. The primary strategy leverages Volrath's discard-activated pump ability in tandem with ultra-high mana-value creatures like Draco (16 MV) and Shadow of Mortality (15 MV) to create a lethal 21+ power commander capable of eliminating opponents in single combat strikes. Supporting equipment such as Whispersilk Cloak, Lightning Greaves, and Key to the City provides essential unblockability and protection. Beyond commander damage, the deck incorporates a potent Big Black Mana engine fueled by Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to cast game-ending finishers like Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate. Dense black tutors and reanimation spells—including Reanimate, Animate Dead, and Living Death—ensure discarded behemoths like Vilis, Broker of Blood and Razaketh, the Foulblooded double as devastating value engines. The deck balances lethal precision strikes with asymmetric board wipes, delivering resilient multi-angled pressure across mid-game turns.
