Deck overview

This Grixis deck is helmed by Saruman, the White Hand, combining spellslinger velocity with token-based Voltron and direct damage strategies. The game plan revolves around accelerating mana in the early turns, establishing Saruman on the board, and chaining low-cost noncreature spells to rapidly amass a massive Orc Army. As the Army grows, secondary engines like All Will Be One, Fiery Inscription, and Chandra's Ignition convert spellcasts and counter placement into lethal table-wide burn. Evasive support from The Black Gate and Gleaming Overseer enables decisive combat eliminations, while spells like Fling and Soul's Fire weaponize high power into direct player damage. A robust package of 8 counterspells, targeted removal, and defensive spells like Lazotep Plating protects the engine from disruption. If Saruman is contained, redundant token producers such as Lord of the Nazgûl and Poppet Stitcher // Poppet Factory allow the deck to pivot smoothly into an alternate go-wide victory route.
