Deck overview

This mono-black deck is built around Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, weaponizing card draw into massive life swings and opponent life loss. The deck leverages dense fast mana and mono-black mana doublers like Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast to deploy Sheoldred early on Turn 3. It utilizes symmetric draw engines like Howling Mine, Font of Mythos, and Seizan, Perverter of Truth to steadily drain the table while keeping your hand full and life total high. The primary win condition is resolving Peer into the Abyss on yourself, which draws half your library and triggers Sheoldred to gain over 80 life. This massive burst of resources immediately fuels a same-turn storm kill using Aetherflux Reservoir, Skirge Familiar, and Dark Deal. Supporting stax pieces like Defense Grid, Winter Orb, and Winter Moon disrupt opponents and protect combo windows, creating a resilient, high-velocity combo-control strategy.
