Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari Food Aristocrats and Voltron midrange strategy commanded by Ygra, Eater of All. The game plan revolves around ramping early to cast Ygra on Turn 4, which immediately turns every other creature on the battlefield into a Food artifact. This unique type-changing ability turns symmetrical artifact destruction spells like Bane of Progress and Season of Gathering into one-sided board wipes that eradicate opposing armies while massively boosting Ygra with +1/+1 counters. The deck generates substantial value through token producers like Peregrin Took, Camellia, the Seedmiser, and Chatterfang, Squirrel General, converting sacrificed Food into card draw, mana, and life drain via Mirkwood Bats and Nadier's Nightblade. With natural ward protection and trample enablers like Garruk's Uprising, Ygra quickly threatens lethal commander damage while opponents struggle to maintain a board presence.
