Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Tergrid, God of Fright, focusing on asymmetric resource denial, forced sacrifice, and hand destruction. The primary game plan accelerates mana through black rituals, utility lands, and doublers to cast Tergrid on Turn 4, immediately weaponizing mass discard and edict effects like Dark Deal, Smallpox, and Plaguecrafter. By stealing discarded and sacrificed permanents directly onto your battlefield, Tergrid creates an overwhelming resource disparity that starves opponents while building a massive board. Opponents are locked out of basic game actions as their hands, lands, and creatures are systematically stripped away. The deck converts this commanding position into victory through combat with stolen armies, massive mana sinks like Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate, or a two-card infinite combo featuring Bloodthirsty Conqueror and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose. It delivers a punishing, controlling experience with strong resilience and multiple independent backup win conditions.
