Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black stax and resource-denial strategy commanded by Tergrid, God of Fright. The game plan focuses on casting Tergrid and immediately triggering widespread sacrifice and discard effects. Whenever opponents discard permanent cards or sacrifice permanents, Tergrid steals those cards directly onto your battlefield, turning symmetrical attrition into massive asymmetric card and mana advantage. Key enablers like Awaken the Erstwhile, Pox Plague, Fleshbag Marauder, and Oppression systematically strip opposing hands and boards while rapidly building an overwhelming army of stolen threats. The deck controls the pace of play through persistent attrition pieces like Smokestack, Braids, Cabal Minion, and Archfiend of Depravity. Once opponents are locked out of resources and their boards are hollowed out, the deck closes the game through combat damage using stolen creatures, Zombie tokens, and direct life drain from Tergrid's Lantern or Entropic Battlecruiser. While extremely oppressive when established, the deck relies heavily on keeping Tergrid alive without dense countermagic or instant protection.
