Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs Spider and Scorpion tribal synergies with graveyard scaling under Cloud of Darkness. The strategy establishes early ground and aerial defense using low-cost creatures with reach and deathtouch such as Deadly Recluse and Kessig Recluse. These creatures trade off in combat to fill the graveyard with permanent cards. As the graveyard fills, Cloud of Darkness enters to remove key opposing threats with its scalable -X/-X ability. The deck transitions into a win condition around Turn 8 by casting Spider Spawning or activating Rotwidow Pack to create a swarm of tokens. Trample from Brawn in the graveyard and unblockable combat damage from Predatory Focus allow the swarm to push through lethal damage across three turn cycles, closing the game around Turn 11. While the deck boasts strong natural combat deterrence and recovers well from board wipes, it lacks low-cost ramp, card draw engines, and stack-based protection.
