Thranduil, the Elvenking by Hudy_C

Format: Commander

Commander: Thranduil, the Elvenking

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Thranduil, the Elvenking leads a Sultai Elf-ball deck that treats the graveyard as a second hand. The commander borrows every activated ability from Elf cards in the graveyard, so the deck spends the early game building a wide Elf board while stocking the yard with mana dorks, lords, and finishers like Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord and Lathril, Blade of the Elves. The main win is an overwhelming combat step after Preposterous Proportions, with a secondary drain kill through the commander borrowing Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord's sacrifice ability or Lathril, Blade of the Elves's ten-Elf activation. This is a midrange, value-oriented build that can grind through long Commander games, but it is neither especially fast nor powerful on the stack.
