Deck overview

This is a Gruul +1/+1 counters value deck helmed by Grumgully, the Generous, built around the interaction between his blanket "each other non-Human creature enters with an additional +1/+1 counter" and the persist mechanic. The key engine: a persist creature enters with Grumgully's +1/+1 counter, dies, and returns via persist with a -1/-1 counter - the two counters annihilate each other, so the loop can repeat indefinitely. Primary wins are infinite persist loops (Woodfall Primus or Scuzzback Marauders + Goblin Bombardment), infinite token loops (Scurry Oak/Herd Baloth + Ivy Lane Denizen paid off by Impact Tremors), and a fallback of huge Hydras finished by Chandra's Ignition or Akki Battle Squad extra combats. The deck is a mid-power value engine that occasionally stumbles into a compact infinite once it draws the right three pieces.
