Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-Black Aristocrats and stax engine commanded by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. The deck focuses on assembling sacrifice outlets and card-draw permanents during the opening turns, gradually eroding opposing boards using symmetrical edict effects like Accursed Marauder and Fleshbag Marauder. Once Avacyn enters the battlefield, her end-step reanimation trigger breaks parity completely on creature deaths, reanimating your sacrificed nontoken creatures at the beginning of every end step. This turns single-use edict creatures and devotion drainers like Gray Merchant of Asphodel into recurring engines that trigger on every single turn of the table rotation. Supported by asymmetric lock pieces like The Darkness Crystal and Smokestack, the deck grinds down opposing life totals and resources while shielding itself against standard creature removal through constant end-step recursion.
