Grolnok 2.0 by user5898508

Format: Commander

Commander: Grolnok, the Omnivore

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated self-mill combo strategy helmed by Grolnok, the Omnivore, aiming to empty its own library as quickly as possible and win via Thassa's Oracle or Laboratory Maniac. The commander acts as a value engine, exiling milled permanents and letting you play them from exile, which provides card advantage while fueling the primary game plan. The deck is packed with self-mill effects like Hermit Druid, Mesmeric Orb, and Dreamborn Muse, along with redundancy in the form of Hedron Crab and Crawling Sensation. A secondary win condition involves milling out opponents via Fraying Sanity or Fleet Swallower, though the main focus remains a swift self-mill into a library-based win condition. The deck also includes Aluren as a powerful enabler for cheap creatures, potentially creating explosive chains. Overall, the deck is a linear, high-reward strategy that excels when its pieces come together but can be inconsistent due to limited explicit tutors.
