Deck overview

This mono-blue control deck uses Matoya, Archon Elder as a card-advantage engine by converting every scry and surveil effect into raw card draw. Early turns focus on deploying cheap mana rocks and low-cost repeatable scry permanents like Think Tank, Eyes Everywhere, and Nightveil Sprite. Once Matoya enters on Turn 3, every filter trigger replaces itself with fresh cards, quickly digging through the 99. The deck controls the board with efficient counterspells such as Force of Will, Mana Drain, and Counterspell, alongside board wipes like Cyclonic Rift. The mid-to-late game transitions into decisive win conditions: assembling the Isochron Scepter plus Dramatic Reversal infinite mana combo to draw the library into Thassa's Oracle or Laboratory Maniac, or leveraging mill multipliers like Psychic Corrosion and The Water Crystal to mill opponents out rapidly.
