Deck overview

This deck harnesses The Wise Mothman to execute a hybrid strategy of +1/+1 counter aggregation and opponent mill. Early turns prioritize efficient mana acceleration via low-cost dorks and rocks, enabling a Turn 3 commander cast. Once Mothman enters and attacks, rad counters inflict continuous attrition, milling nonland cards that fuel aggressive counter distribution onto flying and trampling attackers. Secondary engines like Consuming Aberration and Syr Konrad, the Grim convert graveyard loading into decisive life-loss clocks, while counter multipliers like Branching Evolution accelerate board growth exponentially. While the deck contains an incidental infinite mill loop in Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank, it primarily closes games through lethal evasive combat damage by Turn 7. Defensively, the list relies on counter-based phasing and hexproof protection spells, though the complete lack of nonland tutors leaves individual answers and combo pieces dependent on natural draws and self-mill recursion.
