Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul Goad Voltron build led by Tahngarth, First Mate. The game plan revolves around Tahngarth's ability to jump into combat on each opponent's turn as long as he remains tapped. By attacking on your turn with evasion pieces like Sticky Fingers or Rancor, Tahngarth swings up to four times per turn cycle, rapidly stacking commander damage across all opponents. A dense package of goad spells—including Disrupt Decorum, Agitator Ant, Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos, and Geode Rager—forces opponents to attack each other continuously. This shields your life total while whittling down opposing boards and clearing blockers. Damage multipliers like Unnatural Growth and Death Kiss accelerate this clock toward a Turn 7 finish. While the deck boasts strong combat resilience and targeted protection, its lack of tutors and stack interaction makes it vulnerable to non-combat combo strategies.
