Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-White Lifegain and Pillowfort strategy led by Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant. Starting at 40 life, the deck easily casts Rune-Tail on Turn 3 to immediately flip it into Rune-Tail's Essence, granting complete damage immunity to all creatures you control. This defensive foundation allows low-cost lifegain engines like Soul Warden, Ajani's Pridemate, Voice of the Blessed, and Speaker of the Heavens to build board presence and generate large life totals safely. Without damage risk in combat, small utility creatures block indefinitely while scaling threats grow unchecked. The primary win conditions consist of alternate life-total triggers such as Felidar Sovereign and Test of Endurance, or sweeping combat overruns powered by Nykthos Paragon and Akroma's Will. While the deck excels at negating combat damage and sustaining life, it relies heavily on natural draws due to a lack of tutors and remains vulnerable to non-damage board wipes and enchantment removal.
