Deck overview

Karlach, Fury of Avernus paired with Agent of the Iron Throne commands an aggressive Rakdos deck combining extra combat phases with aristocrat life drain. The primary plan establishes cheap mana acceleration and early token generators, deploying the Background on turn 3 and Karlach on turn 4. On turn 5, Karlach attacks to trigger an extra combat phase, untapping attacking creatures and granting first strike. This doubles combat triggers from token generators like Urabrask's Forge, Legion Warboss, and Krenko, while doubling combat damage opportunities. As attacking tokens and creatures die in combat or are sacrificed at end of turn, Agent of the Iron Throne, Mirkwood Bats, and Zulaport Cutthroat drain opposing life totals directly. Supported by high-end finishers like Bloodthirster and Ancient Copper Dragon, the deck closes the game on turn 6 through overwhelming combat damage and unavoidable burn. While vulnerable to well-timed creature removal against Karlach, redundant drain engines and reanimation provide resilient recovery.
