Deck overview

This deck is a Simic Merfolk typal strategy commanded by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. The primary game plan revolves around casting low-cost Merfolk in the early turns, deploying Hakbal on turn 4, and utilizing teamwide explore triggers at the beginning of each combat to rapidly grow creatures and draw through lands. The surplus land drops from Hakbal and Nicanzil, Current Conductor accelerate mana deployment while filtering away unwanted topdecks. As the creature army scales with +1/+1 counters and tribal lords, the deck transitions into lethal combat damage using evasion enablers such as Herald of Secret Streams, Deepchannel Mentor, and one-sided sweepers like Wave Goodbye. The deck demonstrates strong card flow and resilient recovery due to land surplus in hand, though it remains inherently susceptible to well-timed board wipes and lacks compact infinite combos.
