Gwenom -life gain

Format: Commander

Commander: Gwenom, Remorseless

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-black Villain-tribal drain deck helmed by Gwenom, Remorseless, who turns every attack into a pseudo-Ad Nauseam: look at the top card and cast it by paying life instead of mana. The deck weaponizes that life payment with a dense drain package - Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Bloodchief Ascension, Exsanguinate, and Tendrils of Agony - plus Aetherflux Reservoir as a life-gain payoff. Big mana from Cabal Coffers, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and Crypt Ghast fuels X-spell finishers, while a reanimation suite (Reanimate, Animate Dead, Behold the Sinister Six!) recovers key pieces. The Villain subtype matters throughout: Baron Strucker, HYDRA Overlord reduces costs, Crossbones, Malicious Mercenary and Doom Reigns Supreme punish Villain ETBs, and Baron Helmut Zemo's boast copies big black spells. The deck wins through incremental drain, storm, and life-total math rather than combat.
