Deck overview

This Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow deck operates as an aggressive tempo-burn strategy that leverages Commander Ninjutsu to bypass commander tax and deploy threats under countermagic. By curving a Turn 1 evasive creature into a Turn 2 Yuriko, the deck establishes immediate card advantage while draining the entire table. The midgame compounds this pressure through additional ninjas like Ingenious Infiltrator and Sakashima's Student, trigger doublers like Roaming Throne, and topdeck manipulation spells including Brainstorm, Sensei's Divining Top, and Vampiric Tutor to reveal massive mana-value payloads such as Temporal Trespass, Expropriate, and Blightsteel Colossus. A world-class suite of free and efficient counterspells (Force of Will, Force of Negation, Flare of Denial, Pact of Negation) protects the engine and disrupts opposing combos. While the mana base relies on basic lands and modest ramp, the deck's low mana requirements, tax-evading commander, and high-velocity burn enable consistent, table-wide lethal finishes by Turn 5.
