Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Simic Merfolk typal strategy led by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. It leverages the explore mechanic to generate compounding card advantage, mana velocity, and +1/+1 counters across a wide board of Merfolk. Low-cost creatures deployed on early turns enable Hakbal to trigger immediate multi-card exploration upon entering combat, filtering draws and accelerating extra lands into play. The deck converts this accumulated board power into victory through evasion enablers like Herald of Secret Streams, Master of the Pearl Trident, and one-sided clears like Wave Goodbye. Defensive spells like Ripples of Potential and Inspiring Call protect key pieces from opposing removal. While vulnerable to repeated sweepers and lacking fast combo finishes, the deck offers robust card flow and consistent combat pressure.
