Deck overview

This Esper Zombie deck is piloted by Varina, Lich Queen, uniting aggressive tribal swarms with deep graveyard synergies and aristocrat attrition. The deck establishes early board presence with low-curve Zombie threats like Cryptbreaker, Champion of the Perished, and Dreadhorde Invasion, enabling Varina to trigger on Turn 4 immediately upon deployment. Varina's combat trigger generates substantial card velocity, hand sculpting, and lifegain, rapidly stocking the graveyard to fuel delve-like token creation, reanimation spells, and discard payoffs such as Bone Miser and Cryptcaller Chariot. The mid-to-late game transitions into an overwhelming board state fortified by synergistic lords like Undead Warchief, Death Baron, and Lord of the Accursed, or mass reanimation through Zombie Apocalypse and Rise of the Dark Realms. Direct life-drain effects from Diregraf Captain and The Scarab God bypass traditional combat stalemates. While the list lacks stack-based countermagic and fast mana, its immense redundancy and reanimation provide enduring resilience.
