Deck overview

This mono-black deck helmed by Zenos yae Galvus // Shinryu, Transcendent Rival is a hybrid equipment-voltron and curse-control strategy. The primary plan is to suit up Zenos with evasion and protection equipment, repeatedly attack the chosen opponent, and use a suite of life-draining curses to accelerate their demise. When the chosen creature leaves the battlefield (often because the opponent dies), Zenos transforms into Shinryu, Transcendent Rival, whose "Burning Chains" ability wins the game once that opponent loses. Secondary win paths include Radioactive Man's life-halving combat damage, Blood Tribute / Brush with Death for direct life loss, and the grind from curses like Torment of Scarabs and Cruel Reality. The deck leans heavily on its commander as the primary equipment carrier and transformation enabler, but the curse package and creature-based drain give it a resilient backup plan.
