Deck overview

This mono-blue tempo and spellslinger deck is commanded by Hermes, Overseer of Elpis, focusing on converting cheap noncreature spells into a flock of 1/1 flying, vigilant Bird tokens. The game plan centers on deploying Hermes on Turn 4, chaining 1-mana cantrips like Ponder, Preordain, and Brainstorm, and converting combat connections into massive card advantage with Curiosity Crafter, Bident of Thassa, and Reconnaissance Mission. As the Bird swarm expands, Hermes filters draws through repeated scry triggers on attack, sculpting a hand full of cheap interaction such as Counterspell, Pongify, and March of Swirling Mist. The deck closes games around Turn 8 through wide aerial combat damage, amplified by anthems like Favorable Winds and instant-speed pump triggers from Valley Floodcaller. While the deck possesses great card velocity and reliable protection, it lacks direct tutors and remains vulnerable to resolved sweepers if countermagic mana is depleted.
