Emet-Selch Surveil by iVlynn

Format: Commander

Commander: Emet-Selch of the Third Seat

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Dimir spellslinger/graveyard-reanimation hybrid is helmed by Emet-Selch of the Third Seat, whose cost reduction on graveyard spells and once-per-turn free flashback when opponents lose life turns the graveyard into a second hand. The deck packs the graveyard with surveil, mill, and discard effects, then chains instants and sorceries from the yard to generate token armies (Talrand, Sky Summoner, Lord of the Nazgul, Sedgemoor Witch), drain opponents (Orcish Bowmasters, Bloodchief Ascension, Scrawling Crawler), and eventually take an extra turn via Ultimecia, Time Sorceress to close out. Recursion spells like Reanimate, Dread Return, and Victimize recover key creatures, while Gifts Ungiven, Buried Alive, and Entomb set up the yard. The deck is entirely dependent on its graveyard and can falter to hate pieces, but its redundant filling mechanisms make it consistent once it gets rolling.
