Nicol Bolas Theme Deck by Toolbox

Format: Commander

Commander: Nicol Bolas, the Ravager // Nicol Bolas, the Arisen

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Grixis Bolas superfriends. Nicol Bolas, the Ravager is the curve-topping discard enabler; the deck is built to flip him into Nicol Bolas, the Arisen for +2 draw and -3 removal. The primary plan is disrupting hands and boards, then turning Neheb, the Eternal's combat trigger into a massive Torment of Hailfire. Secondary paths use Liliana ultimates, mass reanimation via Command the Dreadhorde or Rise of the Dark Realms, and Bolas's Citadel value. Visage of Bolas conveniently tutors Nicol Bolas, the Deceiver, making him a hidden commander. The deck is deliberate, mana-hungry, and has only one clean finisher, so games usually stretch past turn eight.
